•  Flying debris can be a problem when working on a hedge, so safety goggles or glasses and even a safety helmet are worth considering
•  Heavy-duty footwear (like steel capped boots) is recommended, especially if you are cutting low branches
•  If using electric hedge trimmers make sure the electrical cable is positioned away from the cutting direction
•  Do not use a electric hedge trimmers in wet weather
•  Keep both hands on the handles provided
•  Make sure the machine is switched off the blades have stopped and the engine is reasonably cool, before attempting to remove any stuck foliage
•  Never overreach or stretch too far when using hedge trimmers. If you become off balance you may put yourself, and/or other people, in serious danger  
•  Always read the manual before use and follow any instructions carefully.
