A Petrol Straight Shaft Brushcutter

Petrol straight shaft brushcutters are probably the most versatile of all the trimmer types available. This is because they have the facility to trim with a line, enabling them to neaten and edge lawns and work close up to obstacles, but are also either fitted with a blade (or have one available for separate purchase.

This option means that you can easily attach a blade, a strong, durable metal three-pronged blade in a star shape which is designed to deal with thicker, stronger weeds, nettles, brambles, thistles long grass and a far higher  volume of foliage than a line trimmer.

They vary in quality, power and features more than probably any of the other categories, ranging from models designed for medium sized gardens all the way up to semi-pro and professional models, with engines ranging from 30 - 45cc, which can handle work in large areas like orchards, paddocks etc, some even dealing with small saplings.

They include some very advanced features such as ‘cownhorn’, or ‘bicycle style’ handles, which make the sweeping movement - the wide arc required for large, efficient cutting - far easier and causes less strain on arms and shoulders are probably the most versatile of all the trimmer types available.
