What is a compost bin used for? Follow

A compost bin, sometimes called simply a composter, is a container designed to hold organic matter, and in which that matter will  break down to create a compost, a substance of decomposed  organic matter, rich in nutrients, which is advantageous for the soil as a fertiliser, as a natural pesticide and in many other ways.

They are a great way of making use of kitchen and garden waste, and allow you to recycle grass cuttings, leaves and clippings,

Compost bins vary greatly in their contribution to the composting process, from simple containers that merely contain the matter to more complex vessels, which are part of a complex composting system.

We recommend you use your compost bin them in conjunction with a garden shredder - a machine that will break down your garden waste to small pieces so that it decomposes faster.
