How much oil to use in a cultivator, tiller or rotavator Follow

These machines will often have a residue of oil left in them when they arrive.

Don’t assume that is enough. They will need filling up. They don't come ready oiled!

The amount of oil you need should be listed in your manual. If it is not, you need to use your dipstick and look at the mark to tell how much you need to fill up by

Engineer’s Tip: If you are in doubt about the amount required, having checked the manual or if you can’t read the dipstick - a half litre or a pint of oil will be a decent amount to ensure you are fairly safe. Use the machine for a short while and then look at the dipstick; the mark will be easier to see, as it will now be darker.
